Bonny Lake Picnic
In the months (!) since my last post it's been more framing than shooting. First, for the Phillips County Arts Fair in Holyoke and Wray Art Guild shows back to back; in June are the Wonders of Nature at 40 West Arts with the Louisville Art Association National Photography Show; and I've joined the new Light Rail Gallery in Arvada where I'll be rotating new work throughout the year.
While the Nikon has taken a back seat lately I have been more present with a camera that's always there..my trusty iPhone. It's never been the go-to travel camera before (always carried my small point and shoot) but I made the commitment during a trip to New Orleans for JazzFest. To encourage myself I created an Instagram account @strayimages where I'll post these mobile pursuits along with a few reimagined images from the portfolio.
And with recent art fairs in eastern Colorado I had a good chance to photograph one of my favorite locations- the former Bonny Lake State Park. Once a popular recreation area, the lake was drained and closed in 2011 leaving a thriving wildlife habitat very much alone in the beautiful remnants of empty campgrounds and picnic areas.
